I mean, let’s think about what the media is doing to the public. They are terrorists.

This is the kind of racism that I wonder if it’s even worth responding to, because if the people if the people creating and reblogging this stuff were capable of critical and analytical thought they probably wouldn’t make these in the first place.
These types of memes do three things
1. Perpetuate the criminalization and demonization of black men. If Ida B Wells was a live she would be writing about these people making these memes. Go look up Ida B Wells.
2. Ignores the fact that these cases received prompt and swift justice. For all these white people murdered not one of them waited months for even charges to be brought to their killers. They all got trials. The murderes all got convicted. They all got tons of local attention.
3. Ignores that the only reason cases like Trayvon and Mike Brown are getting attention is because the community reacted and organized. No one heard of Trayvon for months after he was killed until the lack of media attention caused Florida folks to organize and make noise. They organized and made noise because unlike in all these cases, there was no effort made to bring any of these young men’s killers to justice. With the Mike Brown case in particular the community acted right away. They acted right away because they were fed up. They were fed up with the fatal combination of harassment and neglect from the United States that can only be met with rage.
So to recap. These white girls get justice. There is no news story here. It’s everyday. White people get justice when they are killed. The conviction rate in cases where victims are white are astronomically higher than cases where victims are people of color.
These sorts of story only leave the room for one narrative: black men kill, they get convicted and go to jail, oh my watch out for these dangerous evil black men. That is the narrative that has been following around black men since slavery. Black on white crime has been a myth. A disgusting narrative that has killed thousands of black men. It is the story behind lynching. It is the story behind every unarmed black kid killed by a cop or  vigilante. It is a narrative so sown into the United States that even when white people are getting justice, they still feel entitled to more justice and shit on black people trying to organize for their lives. Because that’s what it is this is about the devaluation of black life.
If you reblog these memes you are participating in racism. You are participating in the legacy of lynching. Stop.
